Health Minister Prof. Kemal Memisoğlu attended the 5th Meeting of Health Ministers of the Organization of Turkic States on April 8, 2025, and on that occasion, he took part as a speaker in the “Panel on Attracting and Encouraging Investments in the Health Sector in the Countries of the Organization of Turkic States”. In his statements, Prof. Memişoğlu talked about the health reforms and the resulting positive consequences in Türkiye, including accessibility and effectiveness of the health service delivery through family medicine system in particular, and resilience of the health system in general. Prof. Memişoğlu also mentioned about the “Century of Healthy Türkiye” policy established under leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, and underlined importance of innovative thoughts and new productions in the field of health. He added “Today, the world is transforming from globalism to regional poles. Together, we need to transform this into a strong structure, making use of the opportunity. If we combine each other’s strengths and act together, eventually we will make significant progress in terms of health.” “We are currently developing a model “from idea to product” for all kinds of technological developments, especially in the areas of rare diseases, genomes, molecular treatments, CRISPR treatments, cancer treatments and mRNA vaccines. This model underlines the importance of turning the science into a commercial product, a technological product, and finally financial income. In this framework, scientists will do their science, traders will do their trade, but the state will create the ecosystem to enable this flow. As a part of this mechanism, we are opening Technology Transfer Offices in our hospitals. We are trying to find investors who will financially support the knowledge in these Offices, including the intellectual property rights of the relevant person.” said Minister and added “healthcare requires a lot of manpower and good managerial skills which can be ensured at the highest level with solidarity.” After the panel, Prof. Memişoğlu and other participating Ministers were received by Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Oljas Bektenov.
