Health Minister Dr. Fahrettin Koca attended the mass opening ceremony of 83 health facilities in Konya.
Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Koca talked about the developed health service delivery in Türkiye and high accessibility which is also made possible through 28 thousand family physicians.
“TURKOVAC is a pride in itself”
Emphasizing that one of the biggest innovations in the health system is home health services, Dr. Koca continued as follows:
“The number of registered patients has exceeded 600 thousand today. We include all our citizens over the age of 80 and our citizens over the age of 65 with a chronic illness, upon their request, into the home health service program. We have taken extremely important steps for localization in medicine. We now produce approximately 90 percent of the drugs in our country. Another big breakthrough is that Türkiye will now produce 87 percent of the vaccines it needs. For this, we continue the construction of the Hıfzıssıhha Türkiye Vaccine and Biotechnological Product Research and Production Center, which is the pride of our country. It is a matter of pride in itself that we have produced our domestic vaccine, TURKOVAC, during the pandemic period. Be proud of the scientists whose upbringing has been a big part of the last 20 years.”
“Türkiye has a tremendous capacity in health”
Pointing out that there are 21 city hospitals throughout Türkiye, Minister Koca explained that the average number of patients per day in Konya City Hospital with 1250 beds is approximately 6 thousand, the total number of examinations performed in 2022 is approximately 2 million, and the number of operations performed is 100 thousand.
