President of the Republic of Türkiye H.E. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan attended the 8th Turkish Medical World Congress and Award Ceremony of “Tribute to the History of Medicine and Common Legacy”.
President Erdoğan started his speech by congratulating those who will receive awards in the program and said, “As the representatives of the Turkish medical world, we are obliged to prioritize human in every aspect of life. It is imperative that we continue our scientific studies, which take their inspiration from our human-centered conception of civilization built on the basis of knowledge, wisdom and ingenuity. We consider the Turkish Medical World Congress as the most important ground for the steps to be taken in this direction, just like every other work within the Organization of Turkic States. I would like to express my gratitude to each of you for the efforts you have made and will show in this direction.”
“Our aim is to bring our country to the top in the field of international health services with the brand “Health Türkiye”, within the framework of the vision of the Century of Türkiye. We offer you to continue these efforts, which will make our country the healing center of the world together. We are determined to continuously develop our extensive infrastructure, trained human resources, science, technology and production power. We aim to increase our diagnosis and treatment services to a level that will enable us to have a voice on a global level beyond meeting our own health needs in every field from medicine to medical devices. And the works that we will carry out together under the roof of the Organization of Turkic States are a part of this process,” added Erdoğan.
Referring to Nobel Laureate Prof. Dr. Aziz Sancar, Erdoğan said that the Science, Service and Encouragement Awards, which are organized on his name by the Health Institutes of Türkiye (TÜSEB), will lay the groundwork for the training of new Aziz Sancars.
On the other hand, Minister of Health Fahrettin Koca said in his speech that the aim of the Turkish Medical World Congress, which has been held 7 times so far, was initially to create scientific bridges by bringing together Turkish scientists in the field of health living abroad and scientists in Türkiye.
Expressing that the goal is now to become a big family that can act jointly in the scientific field and produce its own vaccine, medicine, medical consumables and medical devices under the Organization of Turkic States, Minister Koca added, “It will also strengthen the Turkic world and will provide great benefits to the activities we carry out on a global basis.”
“We will announce to the whole world that we are the global star of health, under the brand of “Health Türkiye” said Dr. Koca and added “with our Health Türkiye brand, we aim to become the center country in the world in the field of health tourism. In this journey, we continue to work in cooperation with all relevant stakeholders in the public and private sectors, especially with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. We continue our promotional activities in a fully integrated manner with “Go Türkiye”, the program of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.”
On occasion of the Congress, 2022 TÜSEB Aziz Sancar Science, Service and Encouragement Awards were presented. Furthermore, Health Ministers of the Member States of the Organization of Turkic States were also presented an award by the President H.E. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on behalf of the healthcare professionals of their country.
