The Health Sector Consultation Meeting was held on Tuesday, 20 August 2024 and hosted by M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu, Head of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Türkiye (TOBB). Minister of Health Prof. Dr. Kemal Memişoğlu made a speech at the opening of the meeting. Minister of Health Memişoğlu pointed out that many important steps have been taken regarding health in the last 22 years and said, “It is no longer enough to provide good health services. With such qualified health workers, such a good infrastructure, and such devoted human resources, it is no longer enough for us to provide the best and most accessible health services in the world. We now have to be the main player in the health sector in the world. If we are to be the main player, we have to produce health information, health technology, and present and say new things about health.” Emphasizing the importance of joint action to carry Türkiye’s health sector to the highest level, Memişoğlu promised to support every individual who will do good things and make every effort regarding production, whether public, private or university. “Health tourism worth 2 billion dollars or a little more is not enough for us. It is not enough for us to produce only ventilators or a few materials. We should say something new. If we, as the Turkish nation, are going to work together, we have to create an ecosystem where scientists, the public and the trade can work together. Scientists will work together with tradespeople. We will support this ecosystem as the public.” Opinions and expectations regarding the issues on the health agenda were presented and evaluations were made at the Health Sector Consultation Meeting. Representatives of the pharmaceutical, medical, cosmetic, health services and international health tourism sectors attended the meeting.
