President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan participated in the opening ceremony of Yesilkoy Prof. Murat Dilmener Emergency Hospital.
In his speech, President Erdogan wished the hospital to contribute to fruitful conclusions for Istanbul and Turkey and paid his condolences to the healthcare personnel, particularly Prof. Murat Dilmener, and everyone else who had lost their lives in the coronavirus pandemic.
Noting that Dilmener embraced each and every one of his patients with all his sincerity regardless of faith, ethnic background and status, Erdogan continued, "Prof. Dilmener, who kept working until his dying breath, will always be remembered. We wanted to show our gratitude by naming this hospital after him. On this occasion, I would like to once again thank all of our healthcare personnel for their efforts and their services."
"Turkey has attracted a lot of attention"
President Erdogan pointed out that Turkey had attracted a lot of attention during the pandemic thanks to its robust healthcare infrastructure and universal health coverage scheme. Erdogan continued,"We know that our universal health coverage scheme, which allows for nearly all of our population to receive healthcare services, is envied by many. Within the last 18 years, we have renovated many hospitals and equipped them with cutting-edge technology. We are at the service of the Turkish people with a health army of more than 1 million personnel. Our city hospitals have become a global model with their method of construction and operation and service quality."
"Emergency hospitals are a must for Turkey"
Delivering a speech at the opening ceremony, Minister of Health, Dr. Fahrettin Koca, noted that they had taken yet another step to further strengthen the healthcare system and added that there were a series of hospitals built in Istanbul within the last few months.
Pointing out that this style of hospital was new for Turkey, Koca said, "Emergency hospitals are a must for Turkey. We need safety nets against pandemics and disasters."
"Normalization should not mean taking a step back from response efforts"
Koca said, "The risk is still out there. Normalization should not mean taking a step back from response efforts. We need to be more careful about hand hygiene. We need to wear a mask and keep social distance. With the help of Allah, we will beat this pandemic that took away very important people from us."
Aside from President Erdogan, the opening ceremony of Yesilkoy Prof. Murat Dilmener Emergency Hospital was attended by the Deputy President Fuat Oktay, Minister of Health Fahrettin Koca, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu, Minister of Communications Fahrettin Altun, Spokesperson of the Presidency İbrahim Kalın, General Vice President of AK Party Numan Kurtulmuş, Chief Rabbi of Turkey Isak Haleva and the daughter, son-in-law and grandchild of Prof. Murat Dilmener.
